Mrs. Brown’s Boys is one of the BBC’s most popular sitcoms. Almost 10 million viewers tuned into the episode broadcast on Christmas Day 2014.

With its growing popularity it is no surprise that a special live episode has been commissioned as part of the BBC’s Landmark Sitcom Season. This is a series of programs to mark the BBC’s “enduring affection for all the great comedy characters we have met over 60 years”.

Brendan O’Carroll is extremely excited about the idea of broadcasting a live episode saying “When I heard the BBC were letting us go fully live I thought: ‘They’ve lost their minds!’

From its humble beginnings in the theatre it gives O’ Carroll and the cast “a chance to show the TV audience LIVE what we really do.”

The episode will be transmitted live during summer 2016. The month has yet to be announced!
